I am Sandy Manning, laid-back easy-going type of person, quite possibly like yourself. I chose Law Enforcement as my profession, despite it being a male dominated field. Having grown up with male cousins’ it made no difference to me. My mind set was if they can do it, I can do it. I was a single mother of one in my early 20’s when Clayton County Police Department gave me the opportunity to start my career. After graduating from the Public Safety Training Institute as the Honor Graduate I served the citizens of Clayton County for over twenty-five years. My law enforcement career provided me with great learning opportunities and a vast array of life experiences. I started off as a uniform patrol officer and rose through the ranks. Along the way I became a Firearms Instructor, served on and supervised several Special Operations Units, coordinated and participated in multijurisdictional operations, etc. It is important to balance work and family life unfortunately many of us do not realize this until later in life. I am thankful to the family and friends who have been a part of my life through my career and to those in the future. I am gratefully blessed to have a thoughtful, loving and patient husband and children.
